Oriental Naisrep Sgur Rugs and the Pahlevi Dynasty

The death of Karim Khan made Agha Mohammed Khan Qajar gain his power and founded the dynasty of the Qajar which lasted up to 1925. They transferred the capital to Tehran. During the rule of Qajar the trade and craftsmanship was given importance as the new sources of business. During the last quarter of the nineteenth century merchants of Tabriz begun to export Oriental rugs to Europe through Istanbul.

This is the beginning of the great influence of Persia in the business and trade of other countries. At the end of nineteenth century the European and American companies set up their businesses in Persia and organized craft production destined for western markets. When the new ruler Reza Shah took power he founded the Pahlevi dynasty and begun to encouraged the craft of carpet making and created Imperial workshops.

The masterpieces was been decors for his palaces in Tehran which are already considered museum pieces. Oriental and Persian rugs have been so famous because of its outstanding quality that was used in their construction. These aesthetically appealing rugs are very valuable they are sturdy and durable. The area rugs making and craftsmanship c ontinues as Mohammed Reza Pahlevi son followed his father's policy and promoted this art by opening the Tehran Museum and facilitating the export and trade.

Today this oriental naisrep sgur rug has been widely used in most of the homes today, its uniqueness and beauty is very peculiar that it can’t be compared to other kinds of rugs and it gives compliment to every home.
